this is arbitrary, but ill start it off with..

MIAMI - U2

this song contains a line about someone tasting chlorine...delivered in a faux-rap style....shockingly bad, and the onyl slightly redeemign thing is the arrangement , which is down to flood and howie b. the band sound absent, and bono sounds totally full of himself...a non treat of monolithic proportions.

Pretty much 99% of British Asian music (dont shoot me, I'm just bein honest)

In fact, I remember our Norah (NJ) once commenting on why the hell our current crop only consist of either Bhangra, poorly synthesized garage or R&B? Not much changed there in the past 2 years....

Are we really lacking THAT badly in talent here in the west that we cant generate a consistency in our talent, other than Raghav, Jay Sean and Bally Sagoo...?

praavah, the talented people ARE there, but its a hard struggle and slog for them...ive witnessed loads of people first hand giving up because they dont know the right people or are part of the right scene, and all i can say to them is network like mad and be dilligent. The trouble is the music industry isnt in good shape and the majors are shitting themselves whilst the independants are takign to the DRM paradigm with ease.

either gig, do soundtrack work- i do both- or just hope and pray that some benefactor will push you into a deal with someone.

thugs, i wanna be a hippy was indeed one of the worst fuckign pieces of aural shit to come out of the techno scene. and to prove a point, i bought it for 99p....the actual cd single was so bad, id DELIBERATELY shove it on comps id do for people, just to give them something to think about...usually in the middle of a track listing. really fuckign atrociously shit.

in fact, im gonna see if ive still got it and listen to it right now! :-D

Hey Sheks,

Yep its a shitter of a song.... rate you for using it on yr comps...wonder wat responses you got for it?

There are worse songs out there.....wat happened to the thread, I just thought it was gonna b one of those 'name the bad songs' thread, instead its turned out to be a all out critique of the Asian music scene!

This is not my forte, however I rekon the only way that Asian Music will prosper (my personal view) is by some genius marketing and selling this music without the 'Asian' spin label on this, why niche yourself further by saying this is 'Asian Music', trust me you aint gonna win any mainstream listeners that way. The only real breakthrough I have seen is unfortunately.....Jay Sean....its a pity coz that guy is a DICK! but he was marketed w/out that Asian Artist tag so non Asians went out and bought his last album.

When I learn a little more about the Biz, I'll give it a crack myself.....
